Tracfone has launched a new service which may assist seniors by providing them with a new Tracfone and a free allotment of monthly minutes. The new service is called SafeLink Wireless. The service is backed by state and federal governments and is designed to assist low and/or fixed income individuals by providing them with a free cell phone. Though the service is not nationwide yet, participating states include Tennessee, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia. If you are a senior in one of these states you may qualify for the Safelink program. You should be aware that not everyone qualifies for the program as there are criteria that must be met by applying individuals and restrictions vary from state to state. However, if you are a senior and are on Medicaid or one of the participating state equivalents then you will most likely qualify for the program. Please visit
SafeLink Information for more info and qualifying criteria.
